Approach

“Health coaches are experts on human behavior, motivation, and health. They are “change agents” who help their clients set and achieve health goals and build new habits.” The Kresser Institute

My coaching focuses on you as an individual and your specific needs. I am committed to ensuring that the time you invest in coaching is valuable and beneficial to you. I will guide you to make simple and significant changes that will empower and equip you to overcome your current health obstacles. Together we will uncover what is preventing you from moving forward and step by step we will overcome those obstacles. My goal is to get you on the path toward living your healthiest and most balanced life.

Our mind, body and spirit are all deeply intertwined. The health of one can significantly affect the health of another. Approaching your health holistically has proven to allow for short-term changes that become long term habits. For this reason, my overarching approach to health and wellness focuses on two scientifically-grounded concepts, Dr. Bill Hettler’s Six Dimensions of Wellness and Dr. Sears L.E.A.N. approach. My coaching is tailored to the interests and needs of each client with the understanding that each of these areas are interconnected and have an overlapping affect on multiple facets of your life.

The belief in balancing and strengthening the Six Dimensions of Wellness, a concept developed by Dr. Bill Hettler, co-founder of the National Wellness Institute (NWI). The Six Dimensions of Wellness are: Occupational, Physical, Social, Emotional, Spiritual and Intellectual. By applying this model, a person becomes aware of the interconnections of each dimension and how they contribute to healthy living.

Dr. Sears calls his balanced approach to wellness L.E.A.N., because it incorporates lifestyle, exercise, attitude, and nutrition, the four pillars of health:

Lifestyle: Take inventory of your overall lifestyle and trim away the things that interfere with making healthier lifestyle and behavior changes.

Exercise: Regular, brisk physical activity, helps you control your weight and cope with stress.

Attitude: If you’re having problems, don’t dwell on them. Instead, get help solving them. Don’t waste energy on life’s little annoyances. Concentrate on the important things and find support for yourself in your endeavors.

Nutrition: Focus on eating a right fat nutrient-dense diet containing a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Be careful about what you put in your body. Eating healthy food helps you stay healthy and cope better with stress.
